I am Ray Drake and I have been involved in photography for years. From my first 35mm Olympus that was a hand-me-down camera, to my first Digital SLR that I have today, I have enjoyed taking pictures. What makes photography fun for me is the hunt for the perfect light and the perfect framed situation; “Chasing Light” is most photographer’s credo and I am no exception. Nearly always, I have my family near me when the shutter snaps, but not every time. There is some soul soothing moments when I get up before dawn and grab my gear (and coffee!) to head out when the only sounds are of nature stirring.
Without a doubt, I enjoy the early morning, but I also find photo opportunities in my daily life, so I take my camera almost everywhere I go, fishing, golfing and to work; to is always a photo to be found, you just need to find it.
I recently read someone’s note on a photography forum that was asking for money-making ideas, that he/she had to make this equipment pay for itself. I was ashamed for this person. My website is less about money making, and more about showcasing my photos. I hope you enjoy your stay and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
I would like to leave you with a quote from Louis Nizer, which I have heard many times over my life, but only have recently embraced.
“A person who works with his hands is a laborer.
A person who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman.
A person who works with his hands, his brain and his heart is an artist”
—Louis Nizer
